My Dear Parishioners and Friends,

Last month (September) was a busy time at the Holy Cross. We begin our regular Mass schedule and standard parish life on Sunday Sept. 10, ’06.

The Children started a wonderful program provided by the School of Christian Living with an excellent service provided by the following teachers: Mrs. Penni Lazor, Mrs. Michele Lazor. Mrs. June Pettegrew and Mrs., Karen Paulison. I had a chance to take a picture of three classes on that first day. I will include in the next monthly newsletter the picture of Mrs. June Pettergrew class who couldn’t be here on that Sunday.

It is wonderful to see children learning about Jesus and his Church. It is a fundraiser on the occasion of 80th Anniversary of our parish.

The net profit of the dinner was $1,568.00.

We have enough of the special prizes. For further information please see enclosed special flayer.

The Parish Life Committee sent invitations for the celebration of the 80th Anniversary of our parish which will be held on Sunday November 12, 06. Let us togeather celebrate the blessings of God sent upon our parish. We will honor those who worked hard for the good of the parish and most of all we will enjoy our fellowship as one parish family. Please invite your friends to join us.

We have only three months before we close our annual fiscal year. With our combine efforts we can be financial stable and capable to cover the necessary expenditures, and therefore we can prevent seeing the annual deficit.

Above all we need to remember about our responsibility and privilege to worship our God on Sunday. Each Sunday our Savior invites us to be nourished with His Word and His real presence in the Holy Eucharist. We need Jesus; we need His guidance, His love and support.

May God richly bless you.

I keep you in my daily prayers. Please remember me in your prayers.

Yours in Christ, Father Joseph Cyman

My Dear Parishioners and Friends,

November is already here with the beautiful and colourful leaves falling off the trees. This reminds us about our human life also so colourful but at the same time inevitably short. However, the promise and hope is given to us by our Lord that after the death of our human body the soul lives eternally. The Church reminds us about this transition of life through the feast of All Saints on November 1st and Remembrance of All Souls on November 2nd. In the short review of the month of October, I need to inform you about the outcome of the XXII General Synod that took place in Manchester, New Hampshire from October 9-13, 2006. The delegates went through very educational and productive synod. It the short period of time four candidates for the office of the Bishop were elected namely Fr. Sylvester Bigaj (for Diocese in Canada), Fr. John Mack (for Buffalo Pittsburgh Diocese), Fr. Anthony Kopka (for Eastern Diocese), and Fr. Anthony Mikovsky (for Central Diocese). They will be consecrated on the Feast of St. Andrew Apostle, on November 30, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Stanislaus and Martyr Cathedral, Scranton, PA. It will be a great occasion for everyone to attend. In addition to the election of Bishops Elect the delegates made several uplifted decisions for the future of our Church. Our Tricky Tray event, which is the most important annual fundraiser, took place on Friday, October 27, at Three Saints Orthodox Church, Outwater Lane, Garfield, NJ. Our special thanks are expressed to those who: Donated Special Prizes, Regular and Super Trays, Door Prizes, Gave monetary donations Served as captains, sold tickets Did advertisement and solicitations, Picked up donations, Numbered the trays for the Program Set up the hall on Thursday, Delivered and set up trays on Friday Were selling tickets at the event Served as runners Served in the kitchen Served as MC Served as security guard Cleaned the hall and kitchen after the event And anyone who in any shape or form helped to organize Tricky Tray 2006. It was very enjoyable to see our School of Christian Living students who attended Apple/Pumpkin picking on Sunday October 15th and Halloween Party on Sunday October 29th. We thank teachers, parents and those who helped to organize these events. The Halloween Party was followed by the Children/Youth Mass at 11:00 a.m. The next youth Mass will be held on Sunday November 26, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Please remember that the youth are the present and the future of our parish On Sunday November 12, 2006 our parish invites everyone for the 80th Anniversary celebration. We will have a ONE MASS at 11:00 a.m. presided by the Most Reverend Robert M. Nemkovich, the Prime Bishop of our Church. Other clergy from our Seniorate will also join the celebration. The Banquet will take place at the Bethwood Restaurant, Lackawanna Ave. Totowa. Let us together make final preparations and enjoy this special occasion. Everyone is invited for a Thanksgiving Mass on Wednesday, November 22, at 7:30 p.m. on the eve of Thanksgiving Day. Let us give thanks for the Almighty God for all His gifts which we take so for granted. My Dear Parishioners, I thank all those who spent their time, talent and treasure to build our parish family in different aspects of life. I invite and encourage all of you to serve through different ministries so that our parish will continue to be a second home for each one of us. I wish to see all of you at our Christmas Dinner on Sunday Dec. 3, 2006 after the 11:00 a.m. Mass.
