Marriage

God Bless Mr. & Mrs. Steven Ortega

On their reception of the Sacrament of Matrimony.

Steven Ortega and Amy Tarazona were married by Fr. Joseph on Sunday, September 4th. Congratulations also to Best Man – Martin V., Maid of Honor – Diane T., parents: Emilia & Luis, Jennifer & Daniel, grandparents, relatives and friends.

Marriage is presented on the first pages of the bible, at the beginning of Jesus ministry and on the last pages of the Holy Scripture as a vision of eternal life – the wedding feast.

We all wish Steven and Amy that God’s love be present in their marriage life each day.   May their lives be filled with joy and assurance that God is always with them with support from their family members, friends and faith community of Holy Cross.  The example of the Holy Family gives them inspiration in their daily lives. – Fr. Joseph

We congratulate and pray for David Wei-Ying Yip and Jessica Natalie Gesualdi who received the Sacrament of Matrimony on Saturday, August 20th. Arthur Yip was the Best Man; Jennifer Gesualdi was the Maid of Honor. We also congratulate, parents, family members, relatives and friends.

Marriage is a sacrament which makes a Christian man and woman – husband and wife, gives them the grace to be faithful to each other and to bring up their children in love and devotion to God. The sacrament of Marriage is the image of the unconditional love of Jesus toward his Church. He showed us His love till the end. His love included compassion and forgiveness. Marriage is a package, first of a great happiness, support, understanding, but also time and moments of overlooking others differences and consequently moments of understanding and forgiveness.

A special thank you to the lectors who read the Holy Scriptures and our organist, Neil Estasnislao, who beautified the liturgy.

Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Christopher Pomante

On Friday October 10th the Sacrament of Marriage took place at Holy Cross Church between Emily Elizabeth Gaydos and Christopher Brian Pomante. The proud parents of the bride were Deacon David and Laurie Gaydos; the proud parents of the groom were George and Patricia Pomante; Maid/Man of Honor: Bethany Squillante/Scott Gaydos; Best Man: Mark Pisco.

St. Paul says, …Marriage is a great mystery that reflects Jesus’s unconditional and perpetual love for the members of His church. To that mystery each married couple is called – to unconditionally love each other in happy moments and in any times of challenge. Marriage is a little bit of a crazy “contract” in that it is an unconditional promise not knowing what the future brings, having trust and faith in Christ’s love and the support of Christian community. In God’s eyes, marriage is the foundation of His society. We see marriage at the beginning of creation, at the beginning of Jesus ministry and on last pages of the bible as the vision of eternal life…

Congratulations to the oldest couple at Holy Cross

On May 27, 2009 George and Gene Kapchonick will be celebrating their 71st wedding anniversary. They are lifelong parishioners, having been married at Sts. Peter and Paul PNCC in Passaic and transferring to Holy Cross, first in Paterson then Woodland Park (formerly West Paterson). Their marriage is blessed with their daughter Alice.

When the Holy Cross Church in Woodland Park was being built George was at the site daily and was Fr. John Slysz’s right hand man. He was a board member for years and active in the many activities and fund raisers.

Gene was involved in the ANS (altar guild) and helped maintain the altar linens. For years she grew a garden of flowers just for the church. Her prize gladiolas adorned the altar for many years. She was also involved in many fund raisers.

While they are no longer able to attend the church due to the distance, they live in Tom’s River, NJ, Father Joseph visits them on holidays and special occasions such as their 70th Anniversary of marriage.

Congratulations to George and Gene and their daughter Alice. Sto Lat! George and Gene.
