Free Town Picnic 2023

The parish town picnic, held Sunday, June 4th, was a huge success. It got bigger this year.

As always, the food was delicious and plentiful. Thank you to the chefs Ed Obssuth, Dave Obssuth, Dominick Bucci and Tracey Banta for a job well done. Thanks to all that donated desserts and homemade dishes to share with friends. We thank those who set up the hall and tents before the event: Penni Lazor, Fran Cuccinello, Matthew Daniewski, Dominick Bucci and those who cleaned after the event, Hernan Patino, Laura Orrego, Diego Ochoa, Iris Miolan and others. I was impressed seeing so much new energy in many parishioners helping at the picnic. Children and adults enjoyed fun and games including a 16’ water slide, dunk tank, “blake the clown”, face painting, balloon twisting, a touch of nature (20 animals on display that gave some educational tips). Many thanks to the Picnic Committee for planning and volunteering their time and talent to make the day fun filled for the young and adults.

Parishioners, friends, children, neighbors and Woodland Park residents all came together and enjoyed the afternoon festivities.

Many thanks to all that participated in any way with helping to make it a great day for all. This event was considered as an outreach program to our community supported by the diocese. As a result, we had people who signed up to become members of our parish and their children will attend First Holy Communion and Confirmation classes.

Looking forward to 2024’s picnic.

Annual Parish & Community Picnic

On Sunday, June 26th , our parish enjoyed an annual free parish picnic after the 11 am Holy Mass. The picnic continued till about 3:30 pm

We had a happy time as a parish family. It was a part of our Outreach Program to our community.

The 16 feet water slide, Simply Magical – Magician, and dunk water tank gave us laughter and joy on this very hot day.

We had a variety of homemade ethnic foods, hot and cold and desserts donated by several parishioners. We truly appreciate their generosity. The parish provided hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, watermelon,  and soft drinks.  We thank Dominick Bucci, David Obssuth, Edward Obssuth for preparing hamburgers and hot dogs in the kitchen and outdoor grill.  We thank Penni Lazor, Natalie Cyman and Patrick Lattre for setting up the hall and outdoor tents. We thank all those who supported our parish with free will donations.  Finally, we thank the serving and clean-up crew Fran Cuccinello, Penni Lazor,  Beverly Obssuth, Carol and Jaslene Medina and Joan Kaynak and anyone who helped in any way, shape or form to make the picnic a great time for the enjoyment of dozens of parishioners, community members and friends.  God bless you all – Fr. Joseph

Food Drive Blessings

On Tuesday, August 6th, our parish provided a table at the Woodland Park National Night Out. Great weather and a great cause drew many community members to raise awareness, generate support for anti-crime programs, and enhance community-police relationships. Food, Rides, Games, DJ, demonstrations and giveaways were part of the event. We thank our parishioner Christine Murphy, member of Woodland Park Municipal Alliance, for being a liaison for our parish’s participation. Also we thank Claire Centrella, Dominick Bucci, Malissa Betancur, Renata, Michael and Natalie Cyman who were helping to collect nonperishable food items and distributed flyers for our upcoming social events. On the table the church’s sign was displayed along with an indication – Food Drive for the Fr. English Food Pantry. The food items were donated by our parishioners and other people. Four large boxes were collected. On Thursday these items along with another eight bags collected earlier in the parish hall, three boxes of clothing and one box of books, were donated to the Fr. English Food Pantry. On behalf of the needy, we thank each and everyone who helped or donated for this noble cause.

Pasta Dinner – a wonderful celebration of God’s blessings

On Saturday, February 18th our parish, in conjunction with Passaic Valley UNICO, hosted a pasta dinner. There were over eighty adults and some children in attendance. The Italian music, door prizes, and 50/50 raffle made the evening an enjoyable event. The church and UNICO raised $500 each. We thank those who decorated the parish hall, prepared homemade meat balls, brought in delicious desserts, served at the dinner, and cleaned up after the event. Bless all those who attended the dinner in support of our parish and UNICO.
