Our Successful Yard Sale took place on Saturday, October 3rd from 9 am to 3 pm. We thank parishioners and friends who donated items for this fundraiser.
We appreciate Michael, Natalie and Fr. Joseph who set up tables and transported donations to the front of the church. We thank those who were selling items, served coffee, bagels and doughnuts during the Yard Sale: Penni Lazor, Fran Cuccinello, Renata Cyman, Natalie Cyman, George O’Brien, Dominick Bucci, and Rafal Daniewski. In addition to the success, we enjoyed great weather that made this event a pleasant and enjoyable one. We thank six outside vendors who donated to Holy Cross Church for the use of our tables and were part of our event.

We thank David Obssuth for purchasing eight new shrubs that were planted in the front of the parish. It took seven hours of work, from removing the old shrubs, planting the new ones, and spreading forty bags of mulch. Our property looks much better. This work was done with the help of Michael Cyman and Fr. Joseph. Yes, we are getting ready for the church to be open again……Missing you all.

Our St. Patrick’s Luncheon took place on March 15th. We thank Fr. David Gaydos and Laurie Gaydos for donating the food and preparing the menu consisting of Corned Beef, Cabbage, Irish red potatoes, Baked Chicken – Variety of Vegetables, Assorted Breads / Irish Soda Bread, Homemade Desserts. We thank those who helped in the kitchen before, during and after the event. The green grab bags donated by Ed and Beverly Obssuth were part of the celebration. Ed and Penni were in charge of the drawing giving an occasion for laughter and fun. The drawings of the basket of cheer was donated by our Adoration Society and 50/50 took place at the end of our celebration to profit a young boy Philip S. and his family. During our Luncheon we hosted a special guest. Our parishioner, Mrs. Sophie Barnes, who remembers the ground breaking of Holy Cross in 1926 (Paterson), celebrated her 101-st birthday in the presence of her daughter and grandson. We sung her a well deserved Happy Birthday wishing her God’s blessings in the future. We thank ladies who brought baked goods for the St. Joseph’s table which included special St. Joseph’s cake. On Saturday, June 8th, our parish held a Flea Market with outside vendors. The church provided delicious food consisting of pierogis, stuffed cabbage, sauerkraut, and hot dogs. We thank all those who helped to set up, served in the kitchen and cleaned up after the event.

On Sunday, December 9th, dozens of parishioners attended our annual Christmas Dinner. The children and all attendees enjoyed a Christmas carol sing-a-long with children from our Sunday School. We thank all those who came for this event, especially parents for bringing their children. We had fun, shared a great menu which was prepared by Deacon David and his helpers. We thank Jessica Muccilli, our organist for the music arrangement and accompaniment. Because the children of Holy Cross are very special, Santa Claus came and gave them goodies asking them to listen and help their parents and behave well. Merry Christmas to all!

Deacon David Gaydos ordination to Holy Priesthood took place on Sunday, October 14th in our parish. He has served for the past thirty years as a Deacon in the Central Diocese and helped throughout the diocese when priests were sick or took their vacation time. Fr. David is now serving as a supply priest helping Bishop Bernard Nowicki with any needs in the Diocese.
Rt. Rev. Bernard Nowicki presided the Holy Mass of Ordination, Prime Bishop Anthony Mikovsky preached the inspirational sermon. The following priests were in attendance: Fr. Sr. William Chromey from Dickson City, PA, Fr. Sr. Gregory Mludzik from Wallington, NJ, Fr. Joseph Cyman, Pastor of Holy Cross, Woodland Park, Fr. Donald Wunderlich, from Lawrenceville, PA, Fr. Carmen Bolock from Duryea, PA, Fr. Andrew Koterba from East Meadow, NY and Deacon William Gaydos from Holy Cross, Woodland Park. The organists were Jessica Muccilli and Neil Estanislao. About one hundred fifty people came to witness and pray at this special and unique celebration in the church and joined for the reception in the parish hall prepared by Gaydos family and Holy Cross parish members.
We thank all for their attendance and we wish God’s blessing to Fr. David, his wife, Laurie and Gaydos family.
